WHEN ARE LESSONS AVAILABLE & DO YOU OPERATE IN WINTER?

Lessons are available all year round, 7 days a week on request.  Bookings are essential.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING TO THE SURF LESSON?

We supply everything you need – full length Roxy & Quiksilver wetsuits, soft Malibu surfboards, rash vests, drinking water, and all the instructions in and out of the water to get you surfing safely and successfully.  All you need to bring are your bathers and a towel. To save time on the lesson day, you can also print, fill out, and sign our Surf Lesson Consent Form. We will also have plenty of blank forms available at the beach.

IS THERE A MINIMUM NUMBER OF SURFERS REQUIRED TO HAVE A LESSON?

Not exactly.  In order to run a group lesson, we require at least 3 people to be booked. More often than not, we’ll have an established group lesson you can join into or others may join your lesson if you book in advance. In the event no one else books in, you can either rebook for another time or come along anyways and pay a little bit more to cover our costs. Surf lessons are more fun with friends and family so bring someone along with you.

ARE THERE ANY REASONS FOR CANCELLING A LESSON?

Yes.  Safety first.  The only weather conditions we don’t like to operate in are gale force northerly winds because they can be dangerous.  Anytime the forecast is for winds above 30-35 knots, you will receive a call from us the night before advising you of our concerns.

DO YOU OFFER WETSUIT AND SURFBOARD HIRE (RENTAL)?

Hire is available subject to availability.  If you would like to hire, it is best to ring the night before to find out what time we will be at the beach and available to organise it for you. If we know you are coming, we can put more equipment on the trailer if need be.  Alternatively, if you are at the beach, pop past and we can let you know there.  We have softboards, bodyboards, and wetsuits for hire.  We do not have any hard boards for hire.

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

Cancelled surf lessons by the customer are subject to a cancellation fee. If cancelling up to 48 hours before the start of the lesson time, 50% of lesson cost will be lost.  And with less than 48 hours notice of cancellation, the full amount will not be refunded. If cancellation is due to illness or injury, please contact us as soon as possible to reschedule your lesson.

We reserve the right to cancel or postpone lessons due to dangerous conditions.  Should a lesson be cancelled for any reason by Kombi Surf, an alternate lesson time will be offered or a full refund will be given.

HOW DO I PAY FOR THE LESSON?

You can pay by cash or card on the day for hire or walk up bookings or by EFT (direct deposit) beforehand.  Prepayment is required to secure your booking when booking in advance.

I WOULD LIKE TO BUY A SURF LESSON AS A PRESENT, DO YOU DO GIFT VOUCHERS?

Yes.  Vouchers are very popular Christmas and birthday gifts.  Single lesson, multiple lesson, and private lesson vouchers are all available and can be sent to your postal address.  They are valid for 3 years (in line with consumer laws) for the value for which they are bought.  Our prices are subject to change and if the price of your lesson has increased from the time the voucher was bought to when you book, you can either pay the difference for that service or use the value towards another type of lesson or hire. Vouchers are not redeemable for cash.

WHAT IS THE MAXIMUM NUMBER OF SURFERS IN EACH LESSON?

Being licensed with Surfing Australia, we can take out a group of 8 students to 1 instructor but it is very rare that we will do the maximum ratio.  Class sizes vary from 2 or 3 (with 1 instructor) to as many as 25 or 30 (with at least 4 instructors) during our busiest days in summer.

CAN I USE MY OWN BOARD AND WETSUIT?

Yes.  If your wetsuit is nice and comfortable, go for it.  And if your board is a “foamy” (softboard) with soft plastic fins you are welcome to use it in our group lessons.  If you would like to have a surf lesson on your hard board, you can book a private surf lesson.

WHERE CAN I GIVE A REVIEW OR LODGE A COMPLAINT?

Kombi Surf welcomes reviews on any platform you use (Google, Facebook, TripAdvisor, etc.).  We also love to hear directly from our customers face to face, via email, or by phone. If you need to make a complaint, you can contact us via email, phone, or in person.  You can also fill out a complaint form and return it to us.  Alternatively, you can contact Surfing Australia as our licensor.
